Master Play or just the current branch?

  • Master Play is the triangle at the bottom-left of the viewport, before Play to next branch, Undo and Redo. It starts at the branch and time currently shown, then continues through the remaining chosen path. At a split it uses your selected continuation, or priority 1 if you have not chosen one. It works from both the tree and an open branch, and keeps the current view.
  • The red play button with the time readout inside a branch plays only that branch. It stops at the branch's end, even when more branches follow.
  • Press the active button again to pause. Master Play resumes from the visible playhead, including when you paused partway through a later branch; it does not jump back to an earlier selection.
  • Pressing Master Play during branch-only playback continues from that time through the remaining path. Pressing the red branch button during master playback limits the remaining playback to the open branch.

For example, in Root → Pass → Finish, the red button in Pass stops at the end of Pass. Master Play from the same position continues through Finish. Neither action replays Root. At the end of a branch, its red button restarts that branch; at the end of the final branch, Master Play restarts the complete scenario from the root, keeping your chosen path. When playback finishes, the tracker stays at the final endpoint until you scrub or press play again. Branch transitions keep the playback clock moving continuously. Before the end, Master Play resumes from the current position. You can also drag the master timeline to its start to replay from the root.

Play to the next branch

The triangle with a vertical line, immediately to the right of Master Play, plays from the visible playhead to the end of the current branch, opens the next branch on the chosen path, and pauses exactly at its beginning (0 seconds). At a split it follows your selected continuation, or priority 1. Press it again to play that branch and pause at the following branch. If there is no next branch, it stops at the final endpoint. Press the active button again to pause early; the shared playback speed also applies. Master Play continues through the whole chosen path.

Change playback speed

  1. Touch and hold Master Play, or right-click it with a mouse. A menu opens upwards. Opening this menu does not start or pause playback.
  2. Choose 0.5×, 1.0×, 2.0× or 4.0×. The highlighted option is the current speed; 1.0× is normal speed.
  3. You can change speed while playing. The playhead and scene advance together at the selected rate, without changing saved keyframe times or branch lengths.

The speed setting applies to playback, including the red branch button, and lasts for the current editor session. With Master Play focused, press ↑ to open the menu; use arrow keys and Enter to choose, or Escape to dismiss it.

Keyboard and scrubbing

Space pauses or resumes master playback when a master run is active. Otherwise it plays the current branch in the branch editor, or starts Master Play in the tree view. It is ignored while typing in a field.

Drag the master timeline to move across branches, or scrub the branch ruler to move within that branch. Scrubbing takes over from playback and pauses it. Editing or selecting another branch also stops playback.

Follow the action and make more room

Use the Follow crosshair icon at the top-right, then select a player, ball or other pitch item. The camera tracks it during playback and scrubbing. In 3D, drag to orbit around the followed item and scroll or pinch to zoom. Choose Pan to stop following. See Navigation & Viewport.

The bottom arrow hides the timeline panels while keeping the master timeline available for scrubbing. Master Play, camera controls, File, Feedback and Capture remain visible. Tap the arrow again to restore the panels.

Movement and path arrows

The playhead determines the scene's current time. Between movement keys, items follow their straight or curved segments; players face their direction of travel, and attached balls or zones follow their targets. Zone visual keys animate shape, radius and colour.

Movement arrows appear during an item's Arrows ON windows. Add a Key Arrows ON at the start and OFF at the end; select the coloured window to adjust its arrow colour. A carried ball does not draw a second route arrow over its player. Master Play does not display a green path-description banner over the pitch.
